Fungi-zette
Special Issue Saturday: After a very large breakfast, we gathered again to form groups for the next foray. This time Cecelia and I went with a group that drove near a small creek near the entrance to the resort. Taylor Lockwood joined us today, helped us identify many of the mushrooms, and even took some video shots of our group. click on any picture to see a larger image
The next lecture/demo for the day was presented by Dr. Mo-Mei Chen, where she prepared samples for tasting of a few of the cultivated mushrooms from China. I was especially impressed by the taste and crunchy texture of the Silver Ear, White Wood Ear, or Yin-Er in Chinese (Tremella fuciformis). We then went to the tables to watch Paul and Dr. Weber go over the growing bunch of mushrooms with us.
